Text says 'what would john hughes do?' in black and hot pink. In the bottom left corner, Telia Nevile sits on the ground, her knees bent up in front of her. One hand covers her face and she stares straight at the camera.

A punk cabaret about watching too many movies and then having to face reality...

I used to think that life would be like it was in movies like The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink. But what happens when the movie’s over and you’re still here?

What Will John Hughes Do? is a loving exploration of the fuzzy area between fiction and fact; between collective memories of characters who never existed and every day struggles with reality. Full of brutally honest stories, and peppered with tongue-in-cheek punk anthems, this show is raw, honest, funny and painfully universal.

Written and performed by: Telia Nevile
Dramaturgy by: Sameena Zehra
Composition by: Reta Le Quesne and Dylan Satherley

Huge thanks to Cameron Powell, Sharon Nevile and the team at Melbourne Fringe.

★★★★ "Nevile performs vibrantly throughout. (Her) vulnerability shines ahead to some resonate but cheeky short musical numbers; the strongest of which details Nevile’s love for bingeing screen content with an almost 1970s anarcho-punk energy.”
